A bench warrant has been issued for the arrest of Independent TD Clare Daly
The Independents 4 Change deputy, with an address in Swords, was due to appear at Naas district court earlier today.
Judge Desmond Zaidan issued a warrant for her arrest when she wasn't present in court for the hearing.
Deputy Daly - who was in an Oireachtas Committee when the story broke this afternoon - was summonsed for failure to pay a speeding ticket.
She said the summons for the case appeared “out of the blue” last week, telling Newstalk’s political correspondent, Páraic Gallagher that the story is “a distraction” that she believes “will be sorted.”
She said she presented in court this morning but left when she saw her case at the bottom of a list of 188.
Her solicitor was there to represent her.
It is alleged she broke the 50 kph speed limit at Ballymany in Newbridge on January 1st 2016.
