Revenue officers at Dublin Port have seized 786 litres of wine.
The discovery was made Wednesday as a result of routine profiling.
Officers stopped and searched a transit van, which had arrived from France via Holyhead.
The smuggled red and white wines have a retail value of around €11,000, and represent an estimated potential loss to the Exchequer of €5,400.
Revenue say investigations are on-going.
The seizure is part of operations targeting the illegal importation, supply and sale of alcohol in the shadow economy.
