When it comes to surfing the web, it's easy to get lost at sea. So let Moncrieff's regular guest Darragh Doyle, a man who knows a thing or two about what's weird and wonderful online, steer you in the right direction.
You can listen back to his full segment below, but here's what you need to know from the Internet this week...
- An opening video:
There’s a great accent for you - apparently developed by learning English online. Given one million people have signed up for the DuoLingo course in Irish, what will Gaeilge sound like in the future?
A new Irish app called Fourpaws allows you to search through rescue dogs around the country, liking or disliking the profiles as you go. The dog profiles are randomly generated, and any which a user doesn’t like won’t be shown again.
Once a perfect match is found, you can apply to adopt the dog immediately through the free app.
The Kilkenny Design Workshops, opposite Kilkenny Castle in the city were a revolutionary concept and a thriving creative hub established in the heart of rural Ireland in 1960s.

Most fitness trackers are similar. Count your steps, get notified when you’ve reached your goal and repeat the next day.
For those who are almost addicted to checking every new notification when they arrive, and know this but don’t want to turn off all apps indefinitely in case you miss something.
That’s what ClearLock does - instead of just turning off notifications entirely, it blocks selected apps for up to three hours.
Other web sites do have book recommendations however they are simply based on the fact that two books have been bought by the same person, matched by a computer.
The Awesome Author recommender says it’s created by book experts, not computers, with over 4,000 authors linked together.
If you’ve ever wondered about what sort of plane is flying above you, FlightRadar24.com is the one for you.
Not only does it detail all planes and their flight paths and where they are, but you can click on each plane to find out origin and destination, altitude and speed and its radar designation.
Now you genuinely can, if you can see, that is, judge a book by its cover. A simple idea - go to the website and look at the cover of the book and guess what it was rated.
They’ll serve up 10 book covers in a row. Just slide the stars and rate the book based off its cover.
- And finally...
