Former Mayo footballer Billy-Joe Padden believes that Mayo's injury crisis might help them in the Super 8s.

Mayo play Kildare in Newbridge after a turbulent week in the GAA, and Billy-Joe believes Mayo might be given a leg-up by their recent injuries.

"In a perverse way, losing the two midfielders might force Mayo into playing this all-out running game with the likes of Diarmuid O'Connor in midfield. With the young players that have come into this squad this season and made an impact, like Cian Hanley, who is just back from Australia.

"You might see a change of tactics where Mayo might just have no other choice than to play this type of game. I think Mayo will rely on those kind of experienced players - Lee Keegan has come back into the team.

"But at the same time, you have seen nothing but positive stuff from the likes of Eoin O'Donoghue, Cian Hanley and James Durkan over the last number of weeks. They have added something to this squad that this squad were maybe not getting this time last year, so if they continue their progress [...] who knows where Mayo will progress to throughout the Super 8s?"
