Since 2014, former Ireland international Andy Keogh has been plying his trade in Australia.

Apart from a short spell sandwiched in between in Thailand with Ratchaburi, he has had two spells at Perth Glory in the A League and is currently in his second spell at the club.

The Australian league has been in the headlines of late as well because former track and field superstar Usain Bolt has taken his fledgling attempts at establishing himself as a footballer Down Under and has been training with Central Coast Mariners.

But while Keogh welcomes the increased attention that is being showered on the A League since the Jamaican arrived, he feels Bolt's presence is actually detrimental.

He joined us on the Keith Andrews Show and told his former team-mate: "It's nice to have the attention on the A League but him playing in the A League, that's not for me. He's 31. For me, he's not going to be able to make it [as a footballer].

"He's shown a bit [of potential] but it's a little bit of a kick in the teeth to the professionals that are in the league.

"It's fine from a marketing point of view but from a football perspective, it's a little bit farcical."

On what he has seen of Bolt so far in exhibition games, 32-year-old Keogh described the former multiple Olympic gold medalist's first touch as "like a trampoline".

And he added that, "If there's someone who genuinely thinks he'd be a good football addition, I don't think they should be in a position to make those calls."
