Thursday evening saw the Special Olympics Ireland Games get off to a fantastic start at the Opening Ceremony. 1,500 athletes and 3,000 Volunteers plus supporters packed into the People's Park Limerick to see the torch being lit. Paddy Casey and Kila banged out the tunes and BMX stunts were performed.
20,000 people lined the streets of Limerick to lend their support too. The Torch was brought in by Gardai and the PSNI. The Games were declared open by the face of the games Christine Delaney and David Wallace. Henry McKean went along soak up the atmosphere….
