Car-maker Toyota is recalling 600,000 vehicles across Europe due to a technical fault.

It affects the Avensis and Rav 4 models in Ireland.

Toyota Ireland says it will affect 6,750 Avensis vehicles and 3,800 Rav 4 models.

They were manufactured between November 2008 and January 2011 in the case of the Avensis and November 2005 and August 2010 in the case of the Rav 4.

It says no other Toyota vehicles are affected.

In a statement the company says the potential problem involves the rear suspension arm of the vehicle and that if during a maintenance procedure nuts for adjusting the rear wheel alignment are improperly tightened it could lead to free movement between the two portions of the arm.

It adds that over time this could result in the 2 portions of the arm separating and the handling of the vehicle may be affected.

Any concerned customer should contact their local Toyota Dealer or the Customer Service line on 01-4190222.
