Over the last two weekends the rapper has been projecting the video for New Slaves on to buildings around America, Europe and New Zealand. However, the Texan authorities didn’t take kindly to the marketing stunt, and threatened to arrest the ‘trespassers’ that had gathered to see it at Rothko Chapel. Two other screenings in the city were not shut down.

New Slaves is the first release from West’s forthcoming album Yeezus, the follow-up to 2010’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. Although details about the record have mostly been gathered through cryptic tweets and leaks, it’s expected to be released on June 18th. It is rumoured to feature collaborations with Daft Punk and Skrillex, among others. West also performed a second track from the album, Black Skinhead, on Saturday Night Live.

Although no Irish buildings have yet to play host to the video, it was shown in Glasgow, Birmingham and Manchester this weekend, and recordings have surfaced online. You can see one below (contains some explicit language):
