The record was broken on Sunday when single I Need Your Love entered the UK Top 10 at number seven. The track is a collaboration with singer Ellie Goulding.

The songs are from Harris' third album 18 Months, which was released in October 2012. Two songs from the album have topped the UK charts - We Found Love (featuring Rihanna) and Sweet Nothing (featuring Florence Welch). Over half the album's songs have made the charts. The Official Charts Company measures sales of individual songs and singles as opposed to those purchased as part of album 'bundles'.

Harris has overtaken Michael Jackson, the previous record holder. Both Bad and Dangerous had seven successful singles. Katy Perry has also had seven hits from her Teenage Dream album.

Calvin Harris has been announced as the headliner of this year's Oxegen festival, to be held in August. The full line-up of the festival will be announced later this evening.
