Chris Kelly - one half of the 90s child rap duo Kriss Kross has died from a suspected drug overdose in Atlanta.

He and Chris Smith were discovered in an Atlanta shopping centre when they were 13 years old.

Twitter quickly became awash with messages of condolence from celebrities and friends alike last night when news broke of the sudden death.

Fellow rapper and actor LL Cool J dedicated a song to the departed rapper, tweeting 'R.I.P Chris Kelly. This song is now officially dedicated to you. May GOD embrace your soul & lift up your family.'

Actress Alyssa Milano was also quick to pay her respects to Kelly's memory tweeting 'Rest in peace. Chris Kelly #KrisKross #jumpjump.'

The duo might be best remembered for the song Jump from their 1992 debut album, Totally Krossed Out, which sold four million copies in the US, hit double platinum and topped the Billboard charts for eight straight weeks.
