The inquest into the death of Savita Halapanavar has been opened and adjourned.

It opened this morning in Galway before being adjourned a short time later.

The inquest heard that there are still 8 outstanding statements due from hospital staff.

6 of those statement will be furnished shortly.

However 2 of those witnesses have been deemed problematic and the inquest was told they have been certified as not being able to provide statements to the inquiry.

The inquest which has been adjourned until April 8th.

It is expected to last at least a week.
