This Christmas rap was recorded at GMC’s rap workshops in Scoil Iosagain, Farranree, Cork City last month.

Aptly named The Santa Anthem (Feat. GMC) by Mr. Hennessy's 4th Class pupils, the kids original rap has gone viral and is doing the rounds on social media.

The song samples rapper TI’s track Why You Wanna and begins with a young boy calling Santa to return his “wonky Playstation.”

Lyrics written by the Cork students include:

“All I want to do is return this Playstation, Santie gave me a wonky one last year.

“White beard and a hairy chest. Santa’s cool boy he’s never stressed.

“There’s snowflakes in my cornflakes and they’re making it soggy like a milkshake.

“Merry Christmas, ho ho ho. Cabbage, no no no.

“I hope I get a mic off my auntie, cause I’m a better rapper than Santie.

“Get your head noddin’, Batman and Robin, at Christmas you know they do nothing.

“Chilling in the back, hate waiting for Santie, I heard they’re hiding somewhere in Bantry.

“Mistletoe, nowhere present, everyone’s eating loads of pheasants. Or turkeys, or geese. It’s so good you’ll need a fleece.”
