Damien Delaney has described his own experiences dealing with the PFA as "atrocious".

Speaking on Off The Ball, the former Crystal Palace and Ireland defender recalled that relationship with the players' representative body, the Professional Footballers' Association, during his time playing in England.

"Atrocious," he said of his own experiences dealing with that organisation whose CEO has been Gordon Taylor since 1981.

"You'd see them once a year where they come in with that FIFPro XI and the PFA Team Of The Year.

"You'd usually see them about February or March and some ex-player comes in... nothing then from one year to the next. Absolutely nothing!

"I've had a couple of problems where they didn't help me one bit. But to the fact that you wouldn't even get a call back from them.

"I know other players have had similar issues with them. I think I saw them once in about five years, outside of this FIFPro thing. And it was some guy came in - it might have been an ex-player with a financial adviser - and they were trying to float this idea that they wanted to get involved in helping young players with their money."
