Late term abortions are abortions carried out in the third trimester of a pregnancy. Those who perform them are, unsurprisingly, the target for hatred and, on occasion, violence from those who vehemently oppose abortion.

Since the murder of abortion advocate George Tiller in 2009 the number of doctors performing this procedure is now just 4 in the entire United States.

“After Tiller” is a documentary that follows the four doctors who perform late-term abortions in the United States, in the wake of Tiller's murder. One of those four doctors is Dr. Shelley Sella and she joined Pat in the studio this morning. Her appearance, in which she spoke about her work and the reaction to it evoked - unsurprisingly - a strong, divided reaction from our listeners.

After Tiller shows tomorrow at the IFI Stranger than Fiction documentary season. It will be screened at 4pm on Saturday, September 28, with a Q&A with Dr. Sella after the screening.
