Kieran Cuddihy on Go an Extra Mile

One of the great pleasures of this job is that I am afforded the opportunity to speak to ordinary people who have experienced the extraordinary. Sometimes those stories are funny, sometimes they are uplifting. And other times they are heartbreaking.

On many such occasions, I have been lucky enough to hear first-accounts of the incredible work that is carried out in Ireland’s children’s hospitals. This work is constant. There are no days off, no ‘quiet periods’.

And the people responsible for all that work need help. They need more resources and they need more investment in cutting edge research and development.

And that’s where we all come in. We want to try and raise some much needed money for these hospitals and the people who work there. And we need your help. If you click here you can donate directly to make sure that no child in Ireland goes without the treatment they need.

We have also organised a 5km fun run that is happening on October 16th at 12:30pm in Morton Stadium, Santry, Dublin.

The emphasis is very much on the ‘fun’. This isn’t for Olympians (though we will make Olympians welcome!). This is for everyone. You can register for the event by clicking here and places are limited, so register now.

If you are a crawler, walker, jogger or anything in between, this event is for you. It’s about getting out, getting active and having fun. I know I’ve certainly enjoyed going out for runs in recent weeks with a firm target in mind.

Any parent in Ireland will you tell you that this really is the worthiest of causes. If you can help in any way, no matter how big or how small, it will not go unappreciated. So register for the 5km fun run and more importantly, donate to help Ireland’s children’s hospitals.
