Hundreds of people take part in the annual 'zombie walk', with many dressing up as and walking like zombies in central San Diego
The 48-year-old driver in question and his family had waited for several minutes at a junction to allow the large crowd to pass.
Some of his children became scared of the crowd so he decided to slowly edge forward.
This angered some of the corwd and they began to thump and punch the car. Some people then climbed up on the bonnet, smashing the windscreen.
The frightened driver accelerated, knocking down the 64-year-old woman. It is reported that the woman injured her arm in the incident.
The driver continued until he saw a police officer and pulled over to report the accident.
The investigation is said to be ongoing.
