Following Arsenal's limp 4-0 loss to Liverpool Pat Nevin joined Off The Ball to survey the damage.

He can pin point the moment when he gave up hope of Arsene Wenger ever taking the London club back to the top table of European football, it was after their 5-1 second leg defeat to Bayern Munich in last season's Champion's League.

It saw them crash out of the tournament after a 10-2 aggregate loss.

"I thought, that’s a team that’s just died," he told Off The Ball.

Pat believes the club needs major changes: "How do you fix that in four days? How do you fix that in four years? You have to gut the whole thing - and you might as well do it sooner rather than later."

"You’d lick your lips if you were a forward playing against certain players in that defense," he added.

Despite the club's short comings, he believes that they will stick with their manager. Pat added that the game is evolving, "at an incredible pace" and that the club is being left behind.

Things could go from bad to worse this week as Oxlade-Chamberlain has been linked with a move to rivals Chelsea before the transfer window closes.
