It's safe to say that Joe Marler did not expect to be playing in The Twickenham Stoop last Friday night.

The England prop was expecting to be preparing for a World Cup quarter final last weekend before the hosts were knocked out. Marler returned to club duty with Harlequins and came off the bench in their win over Wasps.

The 25 year old was penalised for a late tackle on former Wallaby George Smith. When explaining his actions to referee Luke Pearce, Marler said "You dont understand the energy levels and frustration. You didnt get knocked out of the World Cup mate, I did".

It's nice to know that Marler thinks it's acceptable to make a late tackle to help get over the disappointment of missing out on the knock out stages at the World Cup.
