It's hard to say if it was ever fun while it lasted, but either way, it didn't end well.

Queens Park Rangers are down and unless they can successfully avoid a Football League fine, there is uncertainty around the prospects awaiting the London club, with a poor academy and an ageing squad.

As The Guardian's Dominic Fifield told Off The Ball tonight, "Would you trust those owners to make the right signings? They haven't made them yet."

Fifield also reckons that interim manager Chris Ramsey may deserve the chance to take the helm initially next season, although he is likely to have to deal with restricted resources.

"It does look as if this could be a club that spends a period of time now outside the elite before it's better equipped and ready to  come back and maybe stay up next time," he said, adding that QPR could even risk slipping down to League One before bouncing back.
