Chantelle from Perth was enjoying a day out at the races with her friends when she came into an unexpected windfall.

She put down $20 on a long shot in the form of Prince of Penzance at odds of 101-1, and was understandably delighted when the horse won, scooping her a rather healthy profit of $900.

With a smile on her face, she posted a selfie wfeaturing the winning ticket to Facebook to share the good news with all her friends.

However, there was one small problem in that she hadn't collected the winnings before she posted the image, and when she went to scan the ticket later that day, she got a message saying that the money had already been claimed.

Speaking to radio station Triple M, she said "15 minutes [after posting the photo] I went to collect the money and was told it had already been claimed.

"All of our profiles are private, so it has to be someone we would like to think of as an acquaintance, I will have to have a Facebook cull now".

As of yet, she doesn't know which of her Facebook friends did it, but she went on to call them a "low life" and "a massive dick".

Police have managed to track down which machine was used to claim the winnings, and are confident that they will eventually find the person that did it.
