Arsenal have confirmed that midfielder Jack Wilshere has been ruled out for about three months after undergoing surgery on his left ankle.
The England international suffered ligament damage during last Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Manchester United.
The club say that the 22-year-old had a successful surgery today.

It is not the same ankle Wilshere's had long-running problems with in the past.
On that occasion a stress fracture to his right ankle caused him to miss over a year of football, shortly after his impressive breakthrough season.
