Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams and the other main cast members of the much-hyped Batman and Superman crossover film aren't expected to start work on the film until early next year. Director Zack Snyder, however, is getting an early start, with reports suggesting that he'll be leading his filming team to shoot scenes at this weekend's American football game at East Los Angeles College.

According to ELCA Campus News, game attendees will be donning the yellow & black colours of Gotham State University to act as extras in a scene intended for the forthcoming Man of Steel sequel. At half-time during Saturday's ELAC and Victor Valley College game, the crew will film scenes of a fictional match between the Gotham and Metropolis college football teams. The first 2000 fans to the match will be given a specially designed t-shirt. It's a safe bet that there should be a higher than usual attendance for the match.

If the shoot goes ahead - it was previously reported the team had planned to shoot the sequence last month, but cancelled at the last minute due to ongoing script development - it will be the first indicator that the Batman / Superman film is truly ready to go. Hopefully Snyder will be kinder to the Gotham team than Christopher Nolan was: a majority of their Rogues football team were last seen disappearing into a giant hole created when Bane blew up their stadium during a game in The Dark Knight Rises.
