New Fulham boss Rene Meulensteen has not had the best record as a manager with unsuccessful spells at Anzhi Makhachkala and Brondby.
But he was revered by the players and Alex Ferguson at Manchester United.
Tonight we spoke to United We Stand fanzine editor Andy Mitten on Off The Ball about the Dutchman's qualities.
"He's an excellent coach. That's why Rene has such a good reputation. Players like working with him and they say he is one who likes to advance training methods. He studies the preeminent teams in football and he's got good personal skills," said Mitten of a man who quit Man United when David Moyes offered an "inferior" role to the one he had under Ferguson.
"In March he was telling Alex Ferguson that the future for Manchester United was the Barcelona style with young, diminutive players like Kagawa rather than a big centre-forward.
"Ferguson liked him a lot and was always keen to learn, learn, learn! If you could say one negative thing about him, it was that he spoke too much. Sometimes he was so indiscreet with the people that he would speak to whereas Ferguson would like to say nothing or as little as possible. On a pre-season tour, fans would go up to Rene in a hotel and he'd give them transfer gossip."
