The January transfer window is ajar and as crazy season begins, a number of La Liga players are being linked with moves to the Premier League.
We chatted to Graham Hunter tonight about the players who may or may not seek a transfer...
Alvaro Morata to Arsenal or Spurs?
The Real Madrid youngster has been linked with Arsenal and Tottenham, but Graham thinks manager Carlo Ancelotti can be taken at his word. The Italian has stated that there will be no comings or goings at the Santiago Bernabeu this month.
Diego Costa to Chelsea or the Gunners?
The Brazilian-turned-Spain international has been in scintillating form for an impressive Atletico Madrid side over the past 18 months. His buy-out clause is believed to be €34 million.
But Graham thinks Costa will not move this month. Firstly he explained that that clause would see an extra €20 million added in VAT if he moves abroad. In addition, Graham believes Costa feels a strong sense of loyalty towards an Atletico team that is a darkhorse for La Liga and the Champions League, while a move from Spain would not help his World Cup hopes so soon after switching allegiance from Brazil.
Koke to Man United?
Like his Atletico team-mate Costa, Graham believes Koke wishes to remain loyal to the club which developed him, especially in a World Cup year.
Graham also reckons that David Moyes is not interested in making a move for the playmaker mid-way through the season.
Cristian Tello and Martin Montoya to Liverpool?
Tello has stated that he could seek a move away from Barcelona if he does not get more game-time. But Graham explained that the winger is on a long contract and is highly thought of at the Camp Nou. Graham thinks Liverpool would have a more realistic chance of acquiring Tello in the summer.
Similary, Martin Montoya is unlikely to leave Barca for the Reds this summer.
Ivan Rakitic?
Graham thinks Sevilla's Rakitic is one player who could move this January. Sevilla have become a selling club and although they would ideally like to keep the Croatian midfielder, Graham believes a strong bid could tempt the Andalusian club to let him go.
Meanwhile a certain Lionel Messi is going nowhere and should be back in action very soon.
The little Argentine has been recuperating from a hamstring injury over the past couple of months and although Graham thinks the Elche game this weekend has come too soon, the Cup match against Getafe is a realistic return date.
Graham said that Messi looks "tanned, leaned, relaxed and hungry" as if he has had a good pre-season which should set him up nicely for an "extra-ordinary" end to the season and World Cup if he avoids injury.
