Oscar nominated Denzel Washington has been named America's Favourite Movie Star for 2012 in a new poll.
Harris Interactive surveyed more than two thousand adults between December 12 and 18 2012 to compile its list.
Denzel is followed by Clint Eastwood and Tom Hanks. Johnny Depp, who ruled the 2011 list, is now in fourth place.
Here are the top 10 favourite movie stars, according to the poll:

- Tom Hanks
- Johnny Depp and Brad Pitt
- John Wayne
- George Clooney
- Harrison Ford
- Meryl Streep
- Matt Damon
But the poll also found that age, religion, gender and political party leanings can often mean different favorite movie stars.
Eastwood was tops among male voters and Republican/Conservative voters, while Washington was the favorite among female voters and Democratic/Liberal voters.
It's not surprising that Eastwood was the choice of Republicans, since he delivered his infamous "empty chair" speech at the Republican National Convention last year.
While Independents say Tom Hanks is their favorite.
The Generation Game
Echo Boomers (those aged 18-35) and Baby Boomers (aged 48-66) agree on Denzel Washington as their favorite actor, while for Generation X-ers (aged 36-47) the top spot is a tie between Brad Pitt and Johnny Depp.
John Wayne is the favorite among Matures (those aged 67 and older).
