Now that X-Factor is out of the way, it's Strictly Come Dancing's turn to take a turn (pardon the pun). The show's finale is one of the highlights on the telly this week, along with the following...

5. Text Santa ….Friday ITV, 8.00pm

  • Text Santa is ITV’s rival telethon show to BBC's Children in Need
  • The show has raised £15  million since it was launched in 2011 to help UK charities get through the tough Christmas period
  • As ever, the aim is to encourage viewers to text donations and purchase festive merchandise such as charity Santa hats and pin badges during the live three hour show
  • The full line-up is being kept under wraps until nearer the time of broadcast, but among the highlights last year were a hilarious rendition of The Pogues’ classic Christmas hit Fairytale of New York by the cast of Coronation Street
  • Among this year’s rumoured events are a cameo by X Factor judge Mel B in Corrie, an I’m a Celebrity-style Yuletide Tucker Trial, and that much-anticipated appearance by screen superstar Clooney in a one-off sketch with Downton Abbey cast members (and Mr Selfridge star Jeremy Piven) as a guest at a wedding on the estate.

4. Tommy Tiernan - Crooked Man TV3 Tuesday 10pm

  • Back in 2011 Tommy brought his show ‘Crooked Man’ to Cork City Limits Venue
  • This programme is a one-hour special of the show performed that night
  • Richard Ayoade (who also plays Maurice Moss in C4’s The IT Crowd) undertook the challenge of shooting and directing “Crooked Man”
  • It took eight motion film cameras to capture the live show

3. Steph and Dom Meet Nigel Farage on channel 4 Monday 10pm

  • Gogglebox favourites Steph and Dom Parker invite Nigel Farage, who is a UK general election candidate in their constituency in Kent, to their upmarket B&B in Sandwich
  • We’ll know them as the posh couple from Gogglebox, but they are fast becoming massive stars in their own right
  • They drink wine, act very posh and interview the UKIP leader - their local MP candidate - in an interview quite unlike anything he has experienced so far in his political career
  • It's an entirely new style of TV interview, there’s a lot of boozing during the episode and the programme has been criticised for having a jokey format
  • Mr Farage accidentally poured champagne over his trousers – but luckily Mr Parker was on hand to lend him a pair of ripped jeans while his clothes dried out.
  • Steph and Dom's career in showbiz began when they appeared in Four in a Bed and next year Dom will be appearing on The Jump

2. The Apprentice BBC 1 9pm Wednesday and The final Sunday 9pm until 11pm

  • It’s down to the final five, and on Wednesday the candidates go through their paces with the nerve racking interview
  • Alan Sugar's trusted associates leave no stone unturned as they scrutinise the hopefuls' CVs and professional capabilities.
  • Egos are bruised, lies are uncovered and personalities are attacked
  • When it's all over, the advisers give their opinions in the boardroom before Alan Sugar decides which hopefuls he wants in the final
  • Then on Sunday night after 11 weeks of challenges and tasks, we see 2 people battle it out to be Lord Sugar's side-kick. Let’s hope Roisin is one of those two… we won’t know that until Wednesday
  • Their final task is to launch their businesses, coming up with brands and devising campaigns before pitching them to an audience of industry experts.
  • They’re already looking for candidates for the Apprentice 2015, so if you think you’ve got what it takes...

1. Strictly Come Dancing BBC 1 6.30pm, Saturday and The results 8.50pm, Sunday

  • The final which sees the four remaining celebrities, Mark Wright, Caroline Flack, Frankie Bridge and Simon Webbe (Blue) performing two routines each, hoping to pull off an array of dazzling lifts, tricks and surprises as they compete to win the glitterball trophy.
  • Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli, Craig Revel Horwood and Darcey Bussell give their verdicts on the performances, but the all-important votes from viewers determine who waltzes off with this year's title.
  • The series didn’t lack without auld Brucey this year, ratings have been massive - averaging 10.7 million viewer each Saturday night and the same again for the Sunday night results
  • The results can be seen at 8.50pm.
  • Caroline Flack is my favorite to win, she got the first 40 of the series on Saturday night
