England's cricketers have lost their World Twenty20 final with the West Indies in Kolkata.

A disastrous final over, bowled by Ben Stokes, saw their opponents score four crucial sixes, and achieve a victory target of 156 with two balls to spare.

Joe Root had top-scored for England with 54, and he then took the early wicket of Chris Gayle to offer hope of a win.

The win means the West Indies win the tournament for a second time, having previously emerged victorious in 2012 when they defeated Sri Lanka.

Thus, they become the first nation to win it more than once, with India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and England previous winners.

The next ICC World Twenty20 is in 2020 with one-time finalists Australia hosting for the first time.
