West Ham have been dealt a major blow with the news that Andy Carroll will miss the rest of the season.
The club have announced that the striker will have to undergo surgery on his knee injury and is now likely to miss the rest of the campaign.
It was initially thought that the former Newcastle and Liverpool player would only be sidelined for four to six weeks.
Carroll has endured numerous injury problems while at West Ham.
After signing permanently in the summer of 2013, the England international was ruled out until January 2014 due to a foot injury. He also missed the start of this season after suffering ankle ligament damage.
