West Ham and West Brom played out a 6 goal thriller at Upton Park in this afternoon’s early kick off.

It finished 3-3 as the relegation threatened sides shared the spoils in a game of loose defending and fine finishing.

Joe Cole set West Ham on their way after just 4 minutes when he drove the ball low and inside Ben Foster’s near post.
West Brom reversed the look of the game inside the final 5 minutes of the first half, with Nicolas Anelka scoring twice.

In the 40th minute the French striker finished with consummate composure when one on one with Jussi Jaaskelainen. Anelka’s second was less fine craft and more right place and right time when he poked home a loose ball ricocheting around the Hammers six yard box following a West Brom corner.

The second half’s trio of goals were squeezed into just a few minutes. Modibo Maiga and Kevin Nolan scored within two minutes of each other – on 65 and 67 minutes respectively – while Saido Berahino levelled the game at 3-3 with a free kick just two minutes after Nolan’s goal.

The draw leaves West Ham second from bottom of the table, while West Brom are 15th
