Spurs travel to The Hawthorns on Sunday afternoon in the first of Newstalk Sport Sunday’s two live Premier League games. Spurs have won only once in their last five visits to the Black Country but with West Brom losing four of their last five this is as good a chance as they are likely to get to reverse that trend.
At times recently Spurs have looked like they are close to making the step up to the top tier of Premier League sides, although with three draws and one defeat from their last four games in all competitions they remain frustratingly unable to solidify those notions of grandeur with a period of solid consistency. The addition of German midfielder Lewis Holtby looks promising for the North London side and his substitute appearance against Norwich in midweek will have Spurs fans excited about his potential.
Shane Long’s goal at Everton in midweek was his sixth of the league season and he may merit a starting spot, however Lukaku remains such a threat that the Tipperary man may have to make his impact from the bench once again.
West Brom have announced that Peter Odemwingie, possibly the most want-away man in football, will be “sitting out” Sunday’s game so that may yet open a berth on the wing for Long to step into.
