Despite constant speculation that Arsenal are set to put in a bid for AC Milan's Mario Balotelli, Arsene Wenger has indicated that he is not on the lookout for a new striker.

With Olivier Giroud and Yaya Sanogo already at the club, the Gunners' forward line has also been boosted with Costa Rica striker Joel Campbell who is likely to be given a chance to prove his worth, while ex-Barcelona winger Alexis Sanchez will also be used up front.

"Up front we don’t need any more," said Wenger. "It’s not especially for numbers. We need a goalkeeper for sure and, after that, it depends on how our midfielders get through without injuries until the start of the season. Maybe at centre-back we’ll still bring one in."

AC Milan chief executive Adriano Galliani also suggested that no bid has been made for Italy striker Balotelli.

Meanwhile, the BBC's David Ornstein has suggested that the pursuit of Sami Khedira is off, although Arsenal's transfer activity is far from over. The goalkeeper in question is Colombia's David Ospina, while Sporting Lisbon's William Carvalho has been linked with The Emirates side.
