Watford have announced former Athletico Madrid manager, Quique Sanchez Flores, as the club's new boss.

Flores, who won the Europa League with Athletico in 2010, replaces former Watford manager, Slavisa Jokanovic, who led the club to the Premiership this season.

Watford opted not to re-sign Jokanovic over wage demands. It is believed that Watford were unwilling to meet the £2.5m basic salary he asked for, instead offering £1m and a further £1m based on performance, according to the BBC.

50-year-old Flores comes to England with an impressive CV having also coached at Benfica before moving to Al Ain in the United Arab Emirates.

The Spaniard was appointed manager of Getafe back in January but quit after 11 games citing 'personal reasons' for his decision to leave.
