The Opening Ceremony for the European Games is currently taking place in Baku, Azerbaijan. Artists including Lady Gaga performed at the event.

As she did at London 2012, Katie Taylor was Ireland's flag bearer at the Opening Ceremony.

Ireland have sent 63 athletes to compete in the events. Over 6,000 athletes from the 50 National Olympic Committees of Europe will compete in 20 sports over 17 consecutive days at Baku 2015.

The inaugural games will consist of 16 Olympic sports, and four non-Olympic sports.
