WATCH: SIPTU's Jack O'Connor walked off the Vincent Browne show last night

Last night on TV3's Tonight with Vincent Browne, one of the show guests, SIPTU's general secretary Jack O'Connor, walked off mid-discussion, as a result of the presenter's line of questioning.

O'Connor was on the show to debate the Dunnes Stores workers' strike and brought up the fact that TV3 does not recognise its employees rights to participate in collective bargaining.

“I am making a statement here, which I am entitled to make,” O’Connor told Vincent Browne, as he removed his microphone and announced he would not continue to take part in the programme.

“You knew full well and you now see an opportunity for a stroke,” Browne hit back as he demanded that O'Connor put his microphone back on.

O'Connor then questioned why Browne would "give his services" to TV3.

As the two men continued to shout each other down, O'Connor eventually managed to get out of his seat and walk off the set.

“Ok good luck Jack,” Browne called out, as O'Connor said, "Cheerio."

“Quite a stunt isn’t it?, the presenter comments to the other guests TD Ruth Coppinger and journalist Eamon Delaney, through his guffaws. "Well done Jack. It’s impressive isn’t it?”

This needs to be watched to the end, as the programme team cleverly tips their hat to the incident...
