Jo-Wilfried Tsonga is one of the most popular players in tennis and it's easy to see why.

The French star was in action in the second round at the Australian Open when he noticed a ball girl was in distress and briefly halted the match.

The incident happened in the third set of his match against Omar Jaskia which he won in straight sets to advance to the third round.

After the win, Tsonga said what he did was simply a "normal" reaction. “At the start I thought she was normal, but after the second time, I saw she was in trouble and I went to help her to get out because she was in a bad state.”

Tsonga returns to action later in the week where the ninth seed will face French compatriot Pierre-Hugues Herbert.
