Shane Duffy saw red against Preston North End on Saturday as he gave away a penalty with a rather interesting decision to try and stop the ball crossing the line.

The Blackburn defender was on the line as Preston attacked the Blackburn goal in an attempt to pull one back against the Lancashire side.

After things got a bit bagatelle in the box, Duffy sprang into action to try and save the ball with just 24 minutes on the clock and his side leading 1-0.

He was duly issued a red card, and Preston converted the penalty before going on to win 2-1 and keeping their playoff hopes alive.

Martin O'Neill might be worried about the goalkeeper situation as he heads to the Euros after an injury to Rob Elliot, but it might be best if Duffy sticks to his usual position after impressing in the recent friendlies.
