Cork veteran Deirdre O’Reilly lifted the Lidl National League Division 1 cup after an injury to captain Ciara O’Sullivan during the final with Mayo at Parnell Park last night.

"I'm the oldest!" explained the centre-half-back who had never lifted a trophy in all of her years with the Rebels. "It's a great honour, it's nice to lift the cup."

O'Sullivan was stretchered from the pitch with concussion but attended the post-match meal. Cork defeated previously unbeaten Mayo by a goal, 1-10 to 0-10, to take the League crown for the fourth year in-a-row.
