In addition to his exceptional talent on the rugby pitch, Robbie Henshaw is a keen and talented musician, having been introduced to music from a young age and coming from an extended family of traditional Irish musicians. 

Off The Ball travelled to Three Jolly Pigeons,Glasson in Athlone to hear Robbie play and speak to Robbie’s grandfather, father, sisters and uncle, who tell us about how the who tell us about how the rugby star fell in love with music, long before picking up a rugby ball.

The documentary also features leading Irish artist, Sharon Shannon. Robbie and Sharon discuss what music means to them, and the pair’s decision to record an upcoming charity CD, with all proceeds going to the Athlone Hospice.
