Due to Wayne Rooney's recent poor form, there have been calls from some quarters for Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal to either drop the striker or play him in a deeper role.

The beneficiary up front, if either of those possibilities were to occur, would see young forward Anthony Martial being given the responsibility to lead the line.
