It has been less than a week after Roy Hodgson stepped down as England manager, yet there is no standout candidate for the job.

Arsene Wenger, Jurgen Klinsmann and Glenn Hoddle have all been linked with the job, but one of the first people to categorically put their hand up for the position is Eric Cantona.

The former French striker has released a video where "the self declared Commissioner of Football declares his candidacy."

While Roy Hodgson seems more likely than Cantona to become the new manager, the former Manchester United star has put forward a passionate defence of his credentials.

"I, manager of England, will ask the giant Harry Kane not to hit crucial free-kicks or corner kicks bu to be on the other end of it for the header."

The 50-year-old also reveals that the face he was born in 1966, should help his candidacy. Despite not playing for nearly 20 years, Cantona said he hoped he could use Alex Ferguson as a special adviser and Peter Schmeichel could be his assistant.
