Life in the Football League has not gone to plan for Aston Villa since the team were relegated.

An opening day loss to Sheffield Wednesday in The Championship was quickly followed on Wednesday night by a 3-1 defeat to Luton Town in the League Cup.

It was a night to forget for Jores Okore. The Danish international struggled against the Luton Town strikers and his night was capped off by an early contender for the own-goal of the season.

In a finish that would make Villa's strikers proud, Okore calmly slotted home a cross into the bottom-left corner of the goals beating his own goalkeeper Mark Bunn.

The 3-1 loss was made even worse for Villa, by the fact they took the lead in the game. Jordan Ayew scored the team's first goal of the season inside the opening 20 minutes.

After the game, manager Roberto di Matteo spoke about how one win, will help the team change their fortunes. "I always knew it would be a difficult job to turn it around. It is a big job but we will get there in time."

Despite Villa's defeat, the game will be remembered, for all the wrong reasons for Okore.
