Saturday night's Euro 2016 quarter-final penalty shootout between Germany and Italy became the joint longest in the history of the European Championships.

Germany defender Jonas Hector scored the 18th and decisive penalty in Bordeaux and the two teams had missed seven of the previous 17 kicks.

While the Germans have a proud history in the format, they have never missed three in the same shootout. They now go on to face France in the second semi-final in Marseille.

German fan Kurt Prödel superimposed all nine German penalties on top of each other to have all the players simultaneously take their penalty kicks at the same time.

It's a method that needs to be used on a regular basis, as it is a genuinely fascinating watch. Prödel has also used the same method to show the nine Italian penalties.
