Wales prop Tomas Francis has been handed an eight week ban after being found guilty of eye-gouging during last Saturday's Six Nations defeat to England.

The Exeter prop has been punished after he was judged to have made contact with the eye of England tighthead Dan Cole during the second half at Twickenham.

The Six Nations Disciplinary Committee said that, "having considered all of the evidence, including various clips of TV footage, and listened to representations by, and on behalf, of Mr Francis, found that he had recklessly made contact with the eye or eye area of an opponent, which had been worthy of a red card."

The Welsh loss saw England confirmed as 2016 Six Nations champions after the Scotland victory over France the following day.
