David Moyes has confirmed that Nemanja Vidic's Manchester United exit was "mutually agreed" between the club and the player.

The Serbian defender's future has been up for debate and last night the United captain admitted that he would leave in the summer.

In a statement on Man United's official website, he said: "I have decided that I will move on at the end of this season. I want to challenge myself again and try to make the best of myself in the coming years.

"I’m not considering staying in England as the only club I ever wanted to play for here is Manchester United"

Today, his manager explained that the club were supportive of his stance.

Praising Vidic's contribution at United over the years, Moyes said: "It was something that we all mutually agreed together. I think it was the right decision for club and player."

Vidic is being linked with a switch to Serie A this summer with Inter Milan reportedly leading the chase.
