The trailer for the fifth season of the popular HBO series Game of Thrones was posted online this morning following the IMAX screenings of the last two episodes of the previous season in cinemas around the US.
When HBO announced that it had signed a deal to bring the fantasy show to cinema screens, audiences were tempted to buy tickets with the promise that the first full-length trailer of the upcoming season would also play. The trailer was given an R-Rating by the American film censors, the equivalent of an 18 certificate in Ireland.
A fan at one of the IMAX screenings recorded the fifth season’s trailer and posted it on YouTube last night. It’s the first look at the upcoming arc of George RR Martin’s novels, and plays out to a cover version of David Bowie’s Heroes.
Anyone feeling uneasy about watching a bootlegged version of the trailer can, at least, be assured that watching a pirated trailer is representative of how the world actually watches Game of Thrones anyway. Check it out below:
