A video from Egypt's Al-Tahrir TV shows a reporter using a clip from The Simpsons to prove that the war in Syria was premeditated and part of a 'global conspiracy'.

She highlights a scene from an episode aired in 2001, which appears to show the Syrian opposition flag on the side of a jeep. That the Syrian opposition and their flag did not exist then is clear evidence of a massive conspiracy?!

Or... maybe not. Commenters on Reddit have pointed out that the flag shown - a tri-colour with three black stars - differs slightly from the Syrian opposition flag, which uses red stars. Also, the opposition flag has been used before the current civil war - it was used by the Syrian Republic from 1930-58. 

You have to admire the effort, but as conspiracy theories go, it ranks somewhere between Paul McCartney dying in 1966 and aliens building the Pyramids for a laugh.
