If a series was popular once upon a time, you can rest assured there will be rumours of a reunion for years after its conclusion. Friends is one show that has been subject to particularly vocal speculation since it ended back in 2004.

Courteney Cox appeared on David Letterman's Late Show last night, and strongly dismissed rumours that the six main cast members will be getting back together any time soon.

Prompted by Letterman's reluctant questions on the topic, Cox explained how she's failed to get the other five in one room together for dinner, let alone a full-on reunion. She also expressed uncertainty over how the show's single-camera format could be adapted or evolved for the big screen.

All the main cast members have remained busy since Friends ended. Jennifer Aniston has become one of Hollywood's biggest box-office draws, while Courteney Cox currently plays the lead in popular TV show Cougar Town. Matt LeBlanc has found recent success playing a self-deprecating version of himself on Episodes, while David Schwimmer has turned to film directing in-between lending his voice to the Madagascar films. Matthew Perry and Lisa Kudrow have enjoyed plenty of supporting and lead roles in smaller projects.

There's even been a few 'mini-reunions' between one or two cast members, with several of the others having appeared in Kudrow's Web Therapy series.

So for now it seems as if the Friends reunion rumours can be extinguished - at least until one of the other cast members almost inevitably expresses their interest in an interview.
