Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has told the media he is "not a clown" as he discussed technical area behaviour.
The Dutchman, who usually never leaves the bench during a game, made an exception on Sunday against Arsenal when he threw himself onto the floor in the technical area as he demonstrated a dive to the fourth official.
However, he believes managers cannot influence a match from the touchline.
"I am not a clown. I am Louis van Gaal, I am a human being and a manager. It is not part of my philosophy, I don't think you can influence the game from that spot. The players have think on the pitch. Not the manager," he said.
