Ulster have launched an internal investigation into an alleged unauthorized absence by Nick Williams.

The powerful loose forward has been made unavailable for selection for this Friday's Pro-12 game against the Newport Gwent Dragons pending the outcome of the investigation.

Ulster say they will make no further comment on the matter, but it's understood that the 30-year-old returned home to New Zealand last week and missed Ulster's trip to Italy to play Treviso.
