Mike Phillips was getting a little agitated towards the end of yesterday’s 6 Nations game at the Aviva. The Welsh scrum-half tangled with Rob Kearney after Ireland’s second try and was eventually subbed off before the final whistle, seemingly still fuming.
Well, if he was hoping for a bit of peace, quiet and calm to help settle his nerves then he’s made a bit of a misjudgment by sentencing himself to a life of online harassment at the hands of a mob of relentless, remorseless fanatics; he’s insulted a member of One Direction.
Phillips reacted testily to a tweet from One Direction’s Irish born member Niall Horan that criticised him for his actions towards the end of yesterday’s game. Phillips told the Mullingar man to come and see him and repeat his criticisms in person.
Mike Philips is like a child throwing his toys out of the pram! his attitude is terrible, looks like a right arrogant idiot

.@NiallOfficial come down to training in the week big boy. Bring the rest of The Beatles with you

And soon enough, there was Rob Kearney piling in with an offer of some backup muscle for Horan’s trip to Wales training.
“@KearneyRob: @mikephillips009 don't worry @NiallOfficial - I've got your back!!” Cheers pal! he's ragin sexto beat them on his right foot!

Kearney’s show of strength seems to have had a similar effect to suggestively sailing an aircraft carrier within earshot of a despot’s hometown. Or perhaps it was the overwhelming onslaught of Pro-Niall Horan/Anti-AnyonewhoisntproNiallHoran tweets from the One Direction fans on twitter. Horan has 17 million followers.
Either way, soon enough Philips was offering the olive branch, and a friendly reminder of better times.
Where did it all go wrong ! Haha congrats on the win @NiallOfficial @KearneyRob pic.twitter.com/BG3PTH4rxV
